- **Country outlines and tiny-country marker coordinates**: [rembish/iso-topojson](https://github.com/rembish/iso-topojson), by Alex Rembish, based on Natural Earth. Source published under [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Adapted for Maplet: country selection, metadata, and marker coordinates extracted into `countries.json`; outlines stored as `world-map.json`.
- **Original geographical boundaries**: [Natural Earth](https://www.naturalearthdata.com/) — public domain.
- **Continent classifications**: [annexare/Countries](https://github.com/annexare/Countries), used to assign six learning regions.
- Japanese display names are derived from standard locale information (`Intl.DisplayNames`) with minor learning-friendly display adjustments.

**Country coverage**: 193 UN member states and two UN non-member observer states (Holy See / Vatican City and State of Palestine), 195 total. Dependent territories and other disputed entities are shown as reference geography when present, not as quiz countries. The boundary dataset depicts particular map viewpoints and should not be taken as an assertion regarding territorial disputes.

The country polygons and map points are used under their respective data licenses.
